Sustainable Agriculture & Environmental Conservation
Agriculture is the mainstay of the economy of Tanzania. Eighty percent of the population is engaged in Agriculture. The farming is at subsistence level and this leads always to famine especially if there is shortage of rain in that year. The organization is engaged in training farmers in low external input sustainable agriculture as a way of cutting down costs involved with agricultural inputs, which are very expensive. Moreover, the organization is training farmers to work in groups as a way of gaining bargaining power in the sales of their products.
The environment is being destructed due to many factors. The organization is promoting the use of fuel saving cookers/stoves to reduce the use of firewood. Tree planting programs are foreseen when funds would be available.
